Sam graduated from Bristol University in 2008 and spent a year in general practice before embarking on a rotating internship followed by an anaesthesia and pain management internship. Upon finishing these Sam enrolled on the BSAVA certificate in Small Animal Surgery while working in a busy hospital and completed this with distinction in 2015. She joined the Bath Vet Group team as a referral surgeon in February 2017.
Sam will cover the presentation, clinical signs and diagnosis of brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) including an update on the recently published literature. The recommendations for surgical vs conservative management will be discussed before briefly touching on anaesthetising the BOAS case and emergency stabilisation. Sam will then discuss each surgical component of BOAS, surgical techniques and when these are necessary. Finally, post-operative care and prognosis will be covered.
Held at Cullompton RFC. A hot meal will be served prior to the start of the talk. Please aim to arrive for 7.15pm for food with the talk commencing at 7.45pm.
