Young Vet Network Talk on Investigating Livestock Diseases - for vets < 8 years qualified

Young Vet Network talk by Rachael Collins, Harriet Stacey & Beatriz Del Yelmo De Haro. Although this talk is aimed at vets <8 years qualified, all vets are welcome to attend - please book using the separate booking option below if you are 8 years qualified or over.
This talk will focus on different roles of veterinary surgeons in the civil service along with some interactive and interesting cases that have passed through the post-mortem room doors recently!
Rachael Collins qualified from Glasgow Vet School in 2006 and worked for two years in mixed practice in North Yorkshire before joining APHA Starcross as a Veterinary Investigation Officer in 2008. She has currently just completed an MSc in Veterinary Microbiology.
Harriet Stacey qualified from Glasgow Vet School in 2014 and worked for two-and-a-half years in 100% farm animal practice in mid Devon before joining APHA Starcross as a Veterinary Investigation Officer in 2017. The majority of their workload comprises of post-mortem examination and investigation of disease outbreaks in livestock species with the aim of detecting new and emerging disease threats to the UK.
Beatriz Del Yelmo De Haro qualified from Murcia Vet School in Spain 1999 and worked for one year in a small animal practice. In 2000 she moved to UK to work as an Official Veterinarian in abattoirs. Soon after Beatriz started to do mixed practice work including TB testing and in 2007 she set up her own TB testing company as well as doing locum work in Somerset and Dorset. In 2008 she joined APHA as a Veterinary Officer. She is currently the lead vet for Border Controls covering Imports, Exports and PETS. She is also one of the specialist vets in the national Artificial Breeding Controls group within APHA.
