Followed by CPD talk by David Martin BVSc MRCVS. David is the Group Animal Welfare Advisor for IVC Evidensia, the largest corporate veterinary group in Europe, where his role is to put animal welfare in the centre of what we do and to ensure that whilst proving world class veterinary care we also help our clients give their animals whether they be pets, production animals or equines the best life they can.
David is also a clinical director and veterinary surgeon for Brownlow Vet Group a part of IVC Evidensia where he acts as an experienced independent expert witness undertaking regular instructions in both criminal and civil fields involving animal welfare, animal husbandry and disease including human injuries sustained from animal interactions.
Talk Overview:
As vets in practice we occasionally encounter cases which cause us serious concern for the welfare of the animals under our care whether they be pets, farm animals or horses. Equally as trusted members of the community people make disclosures to us regarding their safety and the safety of others. In this talk we will explore how to identify and respond appropriately to serious animal and human welfare concerns including non-accidental injuries, dangerous dogs, disclosures of domestic violence and concerns for the safety of children or the elderly.
9.30pm Finish
Held at The Devon Hotel, Exeter EX2 8XU.
